J. Daniel Jenkins, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP is an accomplished Consulting Executive Architect, Author, and former Walt Disney Imagineer with more than 22 years of success across the commercial architecture, design, and themed entertainment industries. Leveraging extensive experience in design management and business process improvement, he is a valuable advisor for an organization seeking guidance in large scale project planning and design. His broad areas of expertise include concept design, architectural design, executive leadership, collaboration and integration leadership, sustainability, standards compliance, and risk management.
While working at Walt Disney Imagineering, he led multiple, simultaneous Architecture, Engineering, Graphic Design, and Themed Lighting Design teams on projects such as: multiple projects within the Magic Kingdom New Fantasyland Expansion and the Magic Kingdom Hub Revitalization & Main Street Bypass. At Disney's Hollywood Studios: Toy Story Land; Midway Mania Third Track Expansion; Sunset Stage Theater; Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Land; Grand Avenue; and the collection of Back of House & Front of House Expansion Projects.
In 2019, Jenkins published his first book, The Design Manager: Successful Management of the Design Process. The book is a culmination of Jenkins' successful experiences and best practices for design management and lessons learned about collaborative and integrated team leadership all based on his proven 20+ years of leading projects and project teams.
Prior to Disney he worked on and led project design teams on a variety of Commercial building types including: Institutional, Healthcare, Judicial, Hospitality, Transportation, Military, and Governmental. Post-Disney, Jenkins has consulted with Multiple Fortune 100 companies such as Walt Disney Imagineering, NBCUniversal, and various other domestic and international companies.
In 1998 Jenkins graduated with a five-year Master of Architecture degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. In 2013 Jenkins, while working full time, he successfully completed his year-long independent study and obtained a Virtual Design and Construction Certificate from Stanford University. Jenkins resides near Asheville, NC and is currently licensed in Florida and North Carolina.
